The only men’s prison choir in the country to perform outside prison walls. Can it change their lives?

CONDUCTING HOPE is a documentary film that tells the story of the inmates at Lansing Correctional Facility outside Kansas City who make up the “East Hills Singers”--the only men’s prison choir in the country to perform outside prison walls--and that is comprised in part by volunteers from the Kansas City community as well as former inmate. As the inmates prepare for an upcoming concert, this timely and inspiring film takes a look at unique program that through the power of music is trying to reduce the nation’s shockingly high rate of recidivism by building inmates’ self-esteem, providing them with valuable skills such as teamwork and discipline and most important, giving them hope. The question is: do you want inmates leaving prison better or worse than when they went in?
